New uniform and logo for the Irish Girl Guides
On Saturday 10 April 2010 the Irish Girl Guides launched its new logo and new uniforms with a big fun filled day for 400 of its members in The Dome, Thurles, Co. Tipperary. This came in advance of IGG’s 100 year celebrations in 2011.
Over 300 Girl Guides (aged 10-15) and 100 leaders travelled from all over the country for the event. The girls had brilliant fun making their way through 100 challenges, everything from assault courses to trying on Indian Sari’s, to leaving messages on a world guiding website, creating time capsules, stretcher races and cooking marshmallows.
The highlight of the day was the fashion show of Girl Guide uniforms from 1920’s to the unveiling of the new uniform. IGG’s new uniforms were designed in consultation with some of the younger members.
The new uniforms are practical and versatile and come in different colours for each section. The new look includes colourful t-shirts, trendy hoodies and fitted micro fleeces as well as accessories such as branded bags.
