29 Enero 2008

The Hong Kong Girl Guides Association and WAGGGS have designed a new Olympia badge to celebrate that the Games of the XXIX Olympiad which will be held in Beijing in August 2008. The aim of the badge is to promote the WAGGGS message to “discover your potential” in many different ways, including sport.

The resource pack, which you can download from this page, includes a range of activities for Brownies, Guides and Rangers. By taking part in the activities, you can learn about people in China, the Olympic sports, the athletes’ preparation and the peace and friendship between countries that the Olympic Games promote.

The Games of the XXIX Olympiad – Beijing 2008 will take place from 8 to 24 August 2008. Approximately 10,500 athletes are expected to participate in the Games, which include 28 different summer sports.

The first Olympia Badge was designed by Soma Hellinikou Odigismou  (The Greek Girl Guides Association) to remind people of the original purpose of the Olympic Games and to mark its return home to Athens in 2004.
