Renewal of the EU Youth in Action Programme

Este texto no ha sido traducido todavía

The current EU Youth in Action programme, which provides support at European and national level for youth organizations will come to an end in 2013, and already the European Commission is discussing how it should be replaced.  You may be aware that the new EU budget for 2014 onwards will also be decided this year, and this will also affect the funding which will be available for youth activities.  The European Youth Forum (YFJ) is calling on its members to support its advocacy campaign calling for an independent Youth in Action programme, independently financed. As the first step in the campaign

the YFJ have prepared a short letter which can be translated into your own language and national reality, to send to any contacts you might have at national level, such as the Minister responsible for Youth, but also for example Prime Ministers and Ministers responsible for Finances, on this matter.  If your Association is a member of the National Youth Council in your country, please co-ordinate any action with the NYC, and urge them also to get involved in this action.   All the political demands in this letter have been agreed upon by YFJ members (including the Europe Region WAGGGS) in the General Assembly 2010 in Kyiv, and are included in the Position Paper on Youth in Action 2.0.
Download here the letter and the position paper.

Decisions about the replacement of the Youth in Action Programme will be made this spring, so it is important to act quickly.  Please can you let the Europe Office know about any action you decide to take.
