The Africa and Europe regions participate “Together to Change the World”

For the second year running, the Europe Region WAGGGS has successfully applied for support from the European Commission under sub-Action 3.2, Youth in the World. This sub-Action of the Youth in Action programme concerns cooperation in the youth field, in particular the exchange of good practice with Partner Countries from other parts of the world.

This year, the Europe Region WAGGGS received a grant of 77.630€, representing 79% of the total budget for “Together We Can Change Our World”, a year-long WLDP  project which aims to raise awareness about the MDGs, in addition to supporting the development of female leadership and partnerships to contribute to the achievement of the goals. The project will involve 33 young women from 26 countries across Europe and Africa, who will undertake national projects prior to coming together in a leadership event which will take place in Burundi in Autumn 2011.

This is the second time the European Commission has supported the Europe Region WAGGGS under sub-Action 3.2 – Youth in the World. In 2009, the Europe Region received 80.088€ to support 39 young women from WAGGGS’ Europe and Western Hemisphere Regions to participate in the ongoing “Pathways to Leadership”, a WLDP project which will culminate in a leadership event at Our Cabana in Mexico this October.
